San Martín de los Andes is located within Lanín National Park, "Parque Nacional Lanín" and very close to Nahuel Huapi National Park.

San Martín de los Andes and Lácar lake:

There are several viewing-points around the city that can be reached either on foot or by car and from which you can enjoy excellent views of San Martín de los Andes and Lacar lake.

Horseback excursions, catamaran tours on the lake, rafting, several treks and mountain bike sports are also organised from the city.

Within the city you can also visit the exhibitions center, museum of the first settlers, "Museo Primeros Pobladores", San Martin and Sarmiento squares, where many cultural activities are organised, and you can assist to the different acts that are offered at San Jose Theather. San Martin de los Andes also has a municipal library, a cinema, numerous cafeterias, bars and restaurants, a hospital and all the services that could be required in a city

Catamaran excursion on the Lácar lake
7 Lakes route:

Between San Martín de los Andes and Villa la Angostura lies the 7 lakes route. A 109 Km long drive along the lakes Lácar, Machonico, Villarino, Falkner, Traful and Espejo until reaching Nahuel Huapi, all of them with amazing shights and hundreds of possible activities and excursions by lake or land.

Epulafquen and Huechulafquen lakes and Lanín volcano:

At only an hour of San Martín de los Andes and half an hour of Junín de los Andes lies Huechulafquen lake in which diverse water excursions can be realized by catamarán with views to the impressive Lanín volcano.

Tromen - Mamuil Malal border crossing:

At an hour from Junín de los Andes you will find "paso Tromen", border crossing between Argentina and Chile on the route to Pucón and Villarrica and from where you can enjoy impressive views of Lanin volcano from Araucaria forests.

Cerro Chapelco:

During the winter months (December - March), snow activities are held at "Cerro Chapelco", a ski resort at only 17 Km (10 miles) from the city and that between other things include ski, snowboard, treks on the snow and excursions on slegdes pulled by dogs. During the summer months there are also horseback excursions and treks on the "Cerro Chapelco".
